The Flash Flood Watch continues for * portions of northeast Kentucky... southeast Ohio and West Virginia... including the following areas... in northeast Kentucky... Boyd and Greenup. In southeast Ohio... Athens... Gallia... Jackson OH... Lawrence OH... Morgan... Meigs... Perry... Vinton and Washington. In West Virginia... Barbour... Braxton... Cabell... Calhoun... Clay... Doddridge... Gilmer... Harrison... Jackson WV... Kanawha... Lewis... Mason... Pleasants... Putnam... Randolph... Ritchie... Roane... Taylor... Tyler... Upshur... Webster... Wirt and wood. * Through late tonight * repetitive showers will continue tonight. The ground is wetter than normal... in much of the watch area... due to above normal rains in June. A nearly stationary front was located along the Ohio River. This front will drift slowly south tonight. A series of surface and upper disturbances will move across the area through Saturday... enhancing continues rainfall along the front. A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Rain amounts near 2 inches would be needed to initiate flooding along the vulnerable small streams. Flash flooding is a dangerous situation. If you live along a flood prone small stream... monitor water levels periodically this Holiday if showers persist. Campers should avoid low spots near streams. Be prepared to take action... should water levels rise quickly or a flash flood warnings is issued. Please report high water to the National Weather Service by calling toll free... 877-633-6772.
