Statement as of 04:57 AM CDT on 04. Júlí 2009
... Heat advisory remains in effect until 9 PM CDT this evening
for the four state region...
The National Weather Service in Shreveport continued the heat
advisory until 9 PM CDT due to the combination of high relative
humidities and near 100 degree temperatures areawide. This
combination will result in heat index values of 105 to 107 degrees.
High pressure aloft will be displaced after today as a series of
disturbances ride around the eastern periphery allowing a cold front
to move into the four state region on Sunday. Cloud cover along with
increasing rain chances will provide cooler temperatures.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Be sure to drink plenty of non alcoholic fluids... stay
in air conditioned rooms as much as possible. Stay out of the sun
as much as you can... and check on relatives and neighbors. Do not
Forget your pets... they need water and shade as well.
