Statement as of 11:41 PM MDT on 03. Júlí 2009 The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a * small stream flood advisory for... central Maricopa County in south central Arizona... west central Pinal County in south central Arizona... * until 530 am MST. * At 1134 PM MST runoff from earlier storms in and near the Sand Tank Mountains and Estrella mountains was causing normally dry washes to run. This includes the Santa Rosa wash and the vekol wash from near Interstate 8 to the confluence with the Santa Cruz Wash. Runoff in the vekol wash is expected to linger through 5 am causing flooding of any unbridged crossings. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown. Lat...
